Bixby North Jog A Thon

Each year, our schools big fundraiser is the Jog A Thon...and this year we had 2 runners- since Grayce started to Pre-K. This is a huge event, usually raising over $40K for the school. It is so successful in fact, it is the ONLY fundraiser we do. You should try one if you need an idea to raise money, while promoting exercise!

This was the week of Gavin's injury- he has on the big black brace. He ran despite the ankle problem, and made 19 laps. His teacher was very concerned about him, and made him slow down and walk a lot- or we might have made more rounds. He did great- I was just happy he didn't complain and wanted to run in the event. The kids really like it. After it's over they get popsicles and water.

Grayce's class ran on a smaller track- on grass- to prevent injuries since they are small. Good thing, because there were a few wipe outs! Grayce made 16 laps!

The other great thing about this event is it totally wears them out! Just look at this tired red-faced baby having her popsicle. She totally had a 2 hour nap after school.

Monday Football: We Got to Play on the New Field, But We Lost

The new Bixby High School field was finally ready enough for people to play ball on it! Yes, it is 4 weeks into the season. They were a little behind. Not all the younger boys will get a chance to play on our new turf- but, as luck would have it, our only game scheduled at the HS was to be played AFTER the high school's first game there Friday night. So, we got lucky. Basically, the field had to be ready for the HS game- so we benefited. The younger boys really like to play on the HS field- and not the 'ol soccer/ football field that we are usually on...but, it works. Anyway, glad we played there but we lost. Above: Mason & Gavin bring down a Broken Arrow player.

Above: These 2 are just from the game, and I put them on because I like them.

Maybe I will have better news to report next week. Right now we are all sick with some horrible sinus issue, and I am not feeling very creative. So, I don't have much else to add.

TAYLOR SWIFT & Rascal Flatts: Concert Report!

Here is Grayce, all decked out and ready to go! (maybe I should note here she is holding her dear taggie blanket behind her back- but I don't even notice it because its been around so long- BUT, it is not part of her outfit. Also, yes, there is an unknown substance dripping down my wall. IDK, you can only see it in photos. It's mysterious.) She was a hit at the show in her boots! We went early to see if we would win the backstage passes, and of course we didn't. But some little twirp who they let put her name in at the last second did. Oh yeah, we're not bitter.
Grayce and Gigi get ready to rock.

Lighting is not so great- but we tried to capture as much as we could. Grayce was so very excited!

Here are Grayce and Taylor- this is about as close as I could get them together! Taylor did "Our Song" (Mama Don't Know) second, so Grayce was thrilled. She was rockin' out most of the time and I had to hold her 46 pounds (maybe 48 with those boots), most of it so we could see. My back is reminding me this morning- but it was worth it. She was SO excited to see her when she came out. Taylor also sang her new "Love Story", which I like more than Grayce- maybe because I have heard it more already. We are sure excited for her new album (well, excited and ready- bc believe me I have the whole old one memorized by now!). I have it pre-ordered for us- because if you were one of the first how ever many, then you could submit a fan pic (aka Grayce's cute face)- and it will be in the CD cover somewhere. How cool is that? (AND yes,-I will add a link to ALL our pics at the end of the post.)

This is when Rascal Flatts came out. Grayce doesn't really know them much- except for the "Life is a Highway" song from Cars. They did it second. After that, she was done. And, she fell asleep. Zonked out. Therefore, I chose to let her sleep for the next hour so I could see the rest of the show- otherwise I might have had to carry her to the car like 4 blocks away. She was NOT pleased about having to wake up and walk to the car- but I don't think I could have convinced her to do it without the nap. So, all's well that end's well- I guess. We made it home and she zonked back out immediately. She was so out of it that this morning, about 6am (it was still dark & Joe had just left for work), she says "Where's dad? Is he still as football with Gavin?"

She is still talking about her love for Taylor this morning...she is still very excited about getting to see her (even if it was from 100 yards!) So, that's all that matters. But, someday- I will figure out how to get those connections for backstage passes. People get back there, and I am going to figure it out!

The Boy is Injured and Bird Head Girl

Gavin has suffered a sprained ankle from football practice. While at the ERgent Care, he thought it would be ever so cool for himself to have a broken leg ( a boy/kid thing?), but alas (or thank goodness), it was not broken. I am really not sure he would have thought that for more than 38 seconds, because he is already complaining every 30 seconds about wearing this aircast he has on for the next 3 days. Here he is pleading with his sister to let him in the car. She locked him out.

He is making his point quite clear to me with some Italian like motioning, that his sister has in fact locked him out again.

Finally, he's in.

What? Who? ME? With the bird on my head? I would never lock my injured brother out of the car. No way. I am in no way responsible for such antics.
PS For those who have inquired, yes...Adorable bird head girl STILL needs back stage passes to Taylor Swift in Tulsa! And/ or I need luck to win some today!

School Picture Day!

Today was the day..the day when school pictures were returned and you can see what your children looked like while posing- at school- after they had the opportunity to eat, run, play or what have you. You never know what may happen. Now, I even volunteered once for picture day when I was able- and I was good. I did not let a hair, shirt, collar, or pair of glasses go astray. Some moms are not so attentive. I'm just saying, you know. Anyhow, this is Grayce's first official school picture. Not bad. She looks pretty stinkin' ornery, but that really can't be helped.

Gavin's is not so bad either, although I am not sure what that look is about. He informed me he was trying NOT to smile. Probably because that wouldn't be cool or something. Boys.
